Bond Elut C2 is a short-chain alkyl functional group that is a more polar packing material compared to C8, with ethyl groups exposed on the silica surface. When target compounds are strongly retained by C18 or C8 packing materials, C2 is often used as an alternative. The polarity of C2 is slightly lower than that of CN in polar interactions. The selection of C2 is common for the extraction of drugs from plasma or serum.
